Mirage LS Coupe DD build *New pic 04/05/13*

Post by MitsuMirageLs » Sun Mar 10, 2013 8:33 pm

So i finally got around to taking some pictures of the car. Ive been slacking since the car isnt registered and cant get it registered until I clear the engine codes :-X and be able to pass inspection. So heres how I got the car and below is a list of plans I have for it since I think im planning on selling the IS300 to save for a 330/335i or 2nd gen G35.

-Rip the front lip off since it was poorly molded. (once side hangs lower than the other plus its cracked) I might try to modify a lip I have for the IS300 or get this one fixed. Not sure yet.
-Take the tint off and leave it off or go 35%
-Fix the dent on the hood
-Change the canister muffler to an oval style
-Redo the door panels since theyre fading and paint is chipping.
-Remove the tach/gauges I dont need.
-Remove the ralliart airbag cover, decided its not my style
-Upgrade the alarm system sooner or later.
-Lower it a bit more where theres no wheel gap
-Get different wheels
-Custom trunk lip spoiler cause I need a 3rd brake light for inspection
-HID foglights
Last but not least... have a small N/A build on the motor that is currently sitting in the trunk and cant take out -__-

Yeah he got a job transfer other wise he wouldve kept it. It also needs some work done for it to be as clean as it used to be. I can tell the car was neglected a bit but he also told me some personal issues he had going on so i understand..

I'm kind of sad that he sold it, but at least it when to a good home and the car stay's in the MPF family. We had a lot of fun building it & i'm sure your going to enjoy it as much as we did.

I can't wait for you to take it to the next level.

For sure, i just wish this one didnt have the lip molded and it was the actually lip from the cyborg instead of the technica one. Still love the front though and it has to get fixed anyways

-Lower it a bit more where theres no wheel gap
-Get different wheels
shoot me a pm on wheel size, and price ;)

i'm thinking their at least 15" cause you got some nice lookin brakes on there
So heres how I got the car and below is a list of plans I have for it since I think im planning on selling the IS300 to save for a 330/335i or 2nd gen G35.
i hate to say it but i don't think your IS will sell for that much, unless its a low mileage and maybe has some supra mods? not too sure though but i know resale for them is worse than a while back

g35/g37 for reliability imo, but the 335i whether its a single or a twin turbo will kill it in terms of speed
but yeah the infinity will be alot cheaper to maintain.. has its issues too but e90/e92 has issues with turbos/fuel pumps so if you do go bmw.. warranty warranty, and warranty again!

i know all g35's have oil burning issues, some tranny issues (for the 6 speeds) and some tire issues , i know this cause i have a few family/friends who's had em
the g37 as far as i know have fixed the oil burning issue, and the tire issues, tranny idk
he says the 37 is a far better car than the 35's

but both the 335 and the g will eat gas about the same or more as your is i think, but i have a friends who went from IS to g35 to g37 and says the g37 is heaps better in power, and has a better forum, but it does eat more gas, now he drives a 335I (older twin turbo version) says the 335i is heaps ahead of the G but of course that much more expensive

just thought i'd give you some input

i'd keep the IS. it was made when toyota gave a crap about their vehicles, and actually set them off from the pack.

most nissans are an expensive pile and i cant really say anything about bmws...

yeah the IS is fairly decent, really reliable, but it lacks some power unless you do supra mods (boost) but that sucker drinks and drinks like the chris
and alot of the interior bits feel super cheap actually and the car is basically corolla sized.. i did love the AC and heated seats on the is300's though

if you think nissan's are an expensive pile, the "i" in any bmw model (328i,335i,etc) stands for investment. period.. or the usual bmw terms like "broke my wallet"

thanks guys, hopefully i can get this car cleaned up soon.

I already know the IS wont get me enough to purchase the bmw or the G right off the bat. Im not planning on it and im actually trying to let go of the IS so i can go to school and im also seeing about moving out of state..
Yes the car was made by toyota and its reliable as can be but Ive come to realize that a lot of the BMW comments about being really expensive can be true and not true. I know a lot of the older ones have had issues. My brother has an e46 330i and he hasnt had any issues besides the normal that comes with any car and he has put on it a crazy amount of miles.

Im leaning more towards the G35 just cause i can get a better deal on them. If theyre known to burn oil then it should be considered a recall and fixed by the dealership and im looking for an auto. Im not looking for a race car so if i were to get a bmw then id probably go with the non turbo 06 330i to avoid the turbos unless i have money to spare which that wont be the case. The G or 330 will be a bit better than my IS but not by much when it comes to MPG.

Gabzor- you pretty much nailed it... the car lacks power and i was planning on boosting it but i dont see a point since i wont enjoy the power and it does drink gas, so if i have a car that drinks gas then i would want it to have a bit more power lol. I have to say that i HATE my interior, i enjoy looking at the car from the outside but then I get in and i get depressed on the quality of the dash and seats. I just dont feel like spending money to re do the entire interior. Havent heard much of complaints from the G35 though, but all cars arent perfect. If i can afford the g37 when the time comes then ill go with that.

your bro has an m54 motor, which is one of the reliable ones, besides maybe electronic and vanos issues remember that, thats before they started turboing their cars.. with bmw like most cars the more electronics the more problems.. like the e34's i think everything was mechanical on it except the throttle and the integrated display

the NA 330, is a solid motor but remember 255hp vs 300hp and alot heavier than your IS so you won't notice much, but either way a much better car than the IS i'd still get warranty though :P and i think the warranty for the fuel pumps is like 100k or 7 years, not sure you'd have to look that up but if you still want a 335i, id get something where dealer replaced fuel pump and still has warranty

the g35, i don't know if it was covered by the dealer or not, but my friend forgot to check his oil and his camshaft failed, and my cousin was under warranty and they upgraded him to the g37 for really cheap

the g35s will have more power than a 330i sport, and it is a little bit bigger so thats that, but i still like german better :P but thats just me
i'm pretty sure you would hate the g35/g37's clutch, they have a weird hydro system for their manual cars idk, i tried it and i didnt even drive it i was just putting the clutch in and out and i hated it.

dude your white coupe has that potential!!!

i love it haha btw have you ever tried to sleep in an is300's front seats? hell i tell ya
