Word. Contractions and overly-abbreviating...

Half the time it will autocorrect the full word for you if you bother to type part of the word. BUT, I barely text anyways.

^^ hahaha that's priceless

I guess it's all in the context it is used... I send MANY emails a day due to my work line, plus posting here and there...
With people I don't know or elders, or ethnic groups I'm not familiar with - I type politely and very grammatical.
With people with some degree of trust, i don't capitalize I's, i write more laxed, use more common words and phrases, nevermind some punctuation and "be done with it"
when im talkin to my friends i totally use tha slang, just chill, and be dumb... It kind of shows that I'm happy relaxed, cheerful and trust, not puttin much thought on it...

This was on my FB wall tonight, shared by a "duck faced" girl. The picture this caption was for was in reference to the floods in Gray this afternoon. I wanted to punch my laptop.

"n i have 2 go 2 skool 2moro. df? my bus driver gon pic me up in a pontoon boat or sumn??"

Our public school system at work!

Edit: In regards to how people say stuff, I work in a slightly "bad" part of Macon, and I deal with the public a lot, which consist mostly of African Americans, regardless, they almost always say "Caliber", "Fruel pump", "Box Chevy", and "Rotaries" is my favorite so far. Calling Freon "antifreeze" It's not just the African Americans though, there's some white folks thrown in for good measure.

Trying so hard not to offend anyone on here with that, lol.

It just gets on my nerves so much when I answer 10 calls and 9 of them are for parts for a Honda Accord, and they don't know if it's a DX, LX, EX, SE, or Value Package. I know you can't expect everyone to know that, but my computer asks every time. Bah, I also despise standing in the store and someone pulls up in their "Box Chevy', Cadillac, Accord, Expedition, Explorer, or other mobile with the subs turned on full blast that they got from the flea market thinking they're cool, and leaving it on like they're listening to it while in the store. I turn my music down at redlights so no has to listen to it. No one in this city has respect for anyone else anymore.

Not sure if it was mentioned but on one site I am on, I see a lot of idiots using the q for g's

So saying hanqing out instead of hanging out.

or when they type you, they put yu. a lot of guys do that too. really are you that gay to try to type like a girl?

there are many other ways idiots type but I don't remember them all.

I hate the word chilling with a passion. Way over used. I hate when people answer with just "chilling" after you ask them what they are up to. so you are just sitting in one spot doing absolutely nothing? cool man

Well y'all is a very normal word here. But I understand where your coming from.I'm just so tired of hearing things mispronounced, seeing mispelled words, and bad punctuation and general grammar. It gets really old, like you don't know the difference between break and brake? Really? One of my biggest pet peaves is when I type up a stupid long message in a text and all I get back is "K". Girls are the absolute worst about that crap. Any one word text bugs the crap out of me though. I can understand Lol, or something similar, but not K, lol.

I totally get the Y'all thing and understand it. That's why I don't really f*** with it in the way that it would sound as if I'm crap talking it. I just never heard it used SO MUCH lol. Every sentence seemed to have Y'all in it.... even if it didn't need to be there.

Example: I'm going to the store

South example: I'm going to the store Y'all. OR hey y'all I'm goin' to thuh stow.

But one thing that can get tiring real quick is mispronunciation on purpose. Instead of saying (or typing) "mouth" it would be "mowf" or even shortening out the pronunciation of yeah (which is slang) to yuh. Like how the hell are you going to make short even shorter..... its pointless.

I am completely on the same page of the "K" response. I could send a massive e message that shows up as 3 separate texts and you respond with K. Its almost insulting to thing I wasted my thumb movement for a response like that... K..... seriously how much effort is it to tap the "O".... look at it.... its on top of the "K" for crap sake.....

What really gets me is how ignorant people are too. Bah, this is turning into my rant thread, lol. The lazy text thing kills me. If I'm interested in a girl and we're texting and she has bad spelling, grammar, or turns short words into a even shorter jumble of letters, then I'm out. I won't talk anymore, it pisses me off that bad. But it also depends on how she looks, lol. I'm talking to a girl now and she spells almost all the words out and correctly but just uses the wrong forms sometimes. Like where a "to" is supposed to be she say's "too" it bugs me, but it's not bad.

I know I'm late to the game, but yeah... I dislike these stupid "young people" talk with a passion. Perhaps because I'm old and crotchety. When I text my niece or nephew, it's like pulling teeth!

The one that grinds my gears a lot as well : Your welcome.

Is it my welcome, really? Retard, it's YOU'RE welcome, short for YOU ARE welcome. Like Chris says, contractions are the beginning of the end.

But I try and be passive among the SMH and the infamous FFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU ..... what the hell does that even mean? Fu? Like Kung Fu but you're drunk and keep saying the word 'fu'?

And I know I'm getting like an old geezer when my mother texts in shorthand as well. She texts me stuff like OMG and "r u up" and "tu" ....

Yes this really does irritate me.
I also get irritated when someone writes a whole paragraph with no commas, full stops, line breaks etc.

I lol'd.

Lol is ok in my opinion, and I do use the Fuuuu, it's a little better than just going all out and saying f*** on Facebook, I know some get offended by it. Although most times I don't give a crap. I also say "your welcome", lol. Never really thought about how it would properly be spelled. But from now on it will bug me if I don't put the "e" and apostrophe. If I don't know how to spell a word I try to get my phone to fix it or I'll change the sentence\paragraph completely to accommodate a new word so I don't look like a complete idiot.

Some of these people I talk to though don't even try, they will misspell the simplest of words, it's really annoying. I want to correct them so bad, but I'm worried it would offend them and I'm not the one to call someone out on being stupid. But it's whatever, the population is gettingore and more stupid by the minute it seems. Just gotta keep studying

Edit: if you see a misspelled word, or a out of place word, blame it on the iPhone, lol. It doesn't know everything, sadly.

I'm on a sport forum. For the past years, I'm seeing more people misusing the words: loose to lose. It's like not like "to, too, two".

Example: "Damn, Xyz team should have not loose to the freaking raiders."

Geez! Loose is something running about freely. The proper lose is for non-winners in a competition.

Reading through a few posts, are we becoming NABR? Are we going to start banning people for incorrect typing? Are we a bunch of stuck up jerks? :D
