k guys im planning on doing the awd swap and im just trying to gather info and im having no luck... what do i need to make my 93 colt awd and how do i install it all?

Yep has to be a 1g rear end. 4bolt is lot stronger

can i use the front dsm suspension? or does that remain mirage? rear struts?

You can use 1g awd fronts and rears (if you use the 1g awd rear subframe)

so what all can i use off the 1g for the swap? what else would i need?

does the stock colt gas tank work or do i have to replace it?

Need a Evo 1-3 or a fuel cell set up

any input as for what else i need to change? im going to take the full suspension from a 1g dsm but use the colt spindles on the front with the talon hubs and shocks/struts. and full rear end for the back. how do you guys feel about 1" sway bars?

does the drive shaft work from the 1g or does it have to me a custom or other? are there any special parts ill need to get? or does everything work with a little fab work?

would a 90 setup work? i know its the 3 bolt rear but i would be swapping it out for an lsd rear anyway.

what takes up the space that makes the fuel tank change nescesary?

this is so random but def showed me better ideas of what I should use. thx TKR. I didn't know 1g would work, thought I needed EVO3 rear bits.

yea i just get random thoughts on my car and have to ask. as is im getting forked around on my awd parts so im thinking i might just make all the parts i can.

ok heres a little bit of an update.

i pulled the motor to put the proper timing side mount in and change the clutch to a 6puck so i cleaned it up a bit and replaced a few other small things and put it back in.


ive been pondering the exterior look a little bit and i came up with an idea. my buddy has a 240sx with a kit on it which is getting a front end swap so im getting the kit since im redoing his car, and i was going to use his front bumper on the colt.

also my buddy brought home a spoiler the other day that a guy at work gave him and he thinks it belongs on my car. i personally think it is a little too high so im going to lower it but what does everyone think? i know some people arent wing people but any input is welcome.


im also looking to change a few other things aswell. id like to find other dot tails but havent really come across any. aswell as im doing a custom install with some 99 alero projector headlights. and a custom 2" wide body kit done all the way around.

well the donor for the awd swap has arrived. i picked up a 91 talon tsi awd 5 speed for $600cdn bodys rotten and frames a little damaged but pretty much everything else is in good shape. ill be completely stripping the car over the next little bit and assesing whats needs work before install on the colt. i still need to get/make a fuel tank.

i purchased an aluminum 15 gallon fuel cell i will have to have modified for under the trunk between the subframe and bumper, puchased a recent rebuilt evo3 big 16g with 2000k on it still waiting for some nicer weather to pull more off of the talon donor as soon as i finish stripping the talon the swap will be easier to dig into. i still need a new rad and to rebuild the engine aswell as figure out what all i need replaced on the sub frame and source those parts my fuel setup still has to be figured out and purchased my custom ic piping needs to be done all the engine and trans mounts need to be done i need to measure and order a 1 piece drive shaft and redo my hubs in the front and source a brake system and all hydraulic clutch swap parts
